Overview of NA03

Postal Code Maintenance allows an organization to set up and maintain the numeric postal (ZIP) codes used city by city within the U.S. and other countries. The postal codes established and maintained here may be selected in the Name/Address constituent database. The Name/Address city and state populate automatically from the entered code according to the postal-code information on record here.


  • From the DDI Connect main menu, double-click Name/Address System
  • Double-click Setup
  • Double-click Postal Codes Maintenance. You will see a screen similar to this one:

Adding a New Postal Code

To add a new postal code, you first need to select the Country you wish to add to. Click the earth button to the right of the Country field. This will launch the Country Codes screen. Select the country that you wish to work with. Click the Add button on the toolbar. The screen will activate for editing:

The following fields are available on this screen:


Field Description
Postal Code Example
City Name of the city within which the postal code resides
State Code representing the state in which the city and postal code are located within the selected country, if applicable. You can type the state abbreviation or click the list icon to select from a list of active state codes in the system
County Code representing the county in which the postal code is located within the selected state, if applicable. You can type the county code, or click the list icon to select from a list of active county codes in the system
Region Code representing the geographic region in which the postal code is located, if applicable. You can type the region code, or click the list icon to select from a list of active region codes in the system
Area This field is no longer used
Coord NS North-south map coordinates (latitude) of the postal code
Coord EW East-west map coordinates (longitude) of the postal code
Branches Freeform, alphanumeric field used to identify postal branches within the postal code


When you have finished entering the information, click Save to retain your changes.


Editing an Existing Postal Code

To modify an existing postal code, you can either double-click it or click it once to highlight and then click the Edit button on the toolbar. The fields will now activate for editing:

Make your changes, and click Save to retain them.
