Overview of NA72UPD

Region Maintenance provides a means of geographically segmenting the country into areas that are typically larger than states. For example, your organization may need to define regions such as Upper Midwest or Southeast Coast, each consisting of a group of states. Regions are used in other Name/Address Setup functions such as Postal Code Maintenance (NA03) and Regional Director Maintenance (NA06). The term “region” can be customized in NA System Settings (NA01).

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING REGIONS: Due to the fact that regions are utilized throughout the system, you cannot make changes (such as changing region numbers) to regions associated to name/address records. DDI Client Support will have to assist in making any of those changes. So, before you configure and use regions, be certain that they are configured the way you want them to be.

To access Region Maintenance:

  • From the DDI Connect main menu, double-click Name/Address
  • Double-click Setup
  • Double-click Region Maintenance. You will see a screen similar to this one:

Region Descr This is a brief description of the region
Unit # Geographic area where the region is located. The options listed for this field are defined in Unit Maintenance (DDI11) under the System Administration component of DDI-Connect. Units are only applicable for organizations employing a regional security model. For information on how to configure units, please reference this page: Unit Maintenance
Unit Abbrev Optional alphanumeric abbreviation representing the geographic area where the region is located, if applicable

To add a new region, click the New button on the toolbar:

The fields at the bottom of the screen now become active. Enter the region code and a description. If your organization uses Units, click the list icon to select from a list of units within the system. If your organization does not use Units, you can leave that field blank.

Click Save. Your region is now added.
