Overview of IV150

The purpose of the Warehouse Explorer program is to model the layout of the warehouse for the DDI-Connect Inventory system. The information in the model is used in the generation of pick tickets and designation of shipping area(s) for the picked items. The Warehouse Explorer application contains several functions. It describes the layout of the warehouse in a tree-structured hierarchical format showing the catalog items in their locations. You can add, edit, regroup and remove locations, define shipping areas and picking areas. You can put catalog items into locations, and you can search for items in the warehouse. You can also set picking priorities, select cycle-count categories, and enable auto restocking. Items must be set up in the Warehouse Explorer program before they can be used by the inventory system.


  • From the DDI Connect main menu, double-click Inventory
  • Double-click Warehouse Explorer. You will see a screen similar to this one:

Add/Remove Locations

To add or remove locations, click the Add/Remove Locations button. This will enable the screen for editing, and add buttons to the toolbar. Your screen will now look like this:

To add a location, click the Add loc button on the toolbar. This screen will appear:

The following fields are available:


Field Description
Description Enter a description for this location
Location code Enter the code for the new location
Pick area Click the drop down arrow to select the pick area for this location
Graphic icon Select the graphic icon (if desired) for this location


When you have finished entering the information, click OK to save your changes.


Location Properties

If you click an item in the list and click the Properties button on the toolbar, you will see the Location Properties screen:

You can make changes on this screen, and click OK when you are done.


Add Item

To add an item to a location, click the location to highlight, and then click the Add item button on the toolbar. You will see this screen:

The following fields are available:


Field Description
Location The location will populate with the location you selected. This is a display only field
Item Enter the Item Number. You can type the number into the Item number field or click the catalog icon to launch the Inventory Catalog
Quantity at this location Enter the quantity of this item at this location
Minimum qty to pick Enter the minimum quantity to pick from this location
Cycle count category Enter the cycle count category code or click the list icon to select from a list of active cycle count categories in the system
Enable auto restock for this item Select this box if you wish to enable auto restocking for this item
When avail. qty falls below Enter the available quantity at which auto restock should take place
Restock to Enter the quantity to auto restock to
Picking Priority Picking priority ranges from +9 (High, i.e. always pick from this location) to -9 (Do not pick, i.e. never pick from this location). Picking priority is used in the generation of pick tickets. The same item may be located in several places in the warehouse with each place having a different picking priority depending upon the layout of the warehouse. Thus, priority is determined by warehouse layout and convenience for picking


When you have finished entering the information, click OK to add the item/location. Then, click Save to retain your changes.


You can also right-click on a location in the Warehouse Explorer:

From the menu that appears, you can view the properties, add existing item or add new item. If you right-click on an Item in a location, you can view the item or remove it.


Cut/Copy/Paste

If you wish to relocate items in the Warehouse Explorer, you can use the cut/copy/paste functions to do so.


To move an item, click it once to highlight it, and then click Cut. Go to the location that you wish to move the item TO, click it once to highlight and then click Paste.


To copy an item, the process is the same, except you click Copy instead of Cut.


Again, when you've finished making your changes, click Save.
