The principle behind cycle counting is to count different portions of inventory at regular intervals while inventory activity is low. The cycle-counting function contains a method of classifying each stock inventory item according to count frequency and next counting date. When a new item is added to inventory records, it will need to be placed in a cycle- counting category. The purpose of the Cycle Count Categories program is to set up the classifications that determine how frequently items are cycle counted.

• From the DDI Connect main menu, double-click Inventory
• Double-click Inventory Counting
• Double-click Cycle Count Categories. You will see a screen similar to this one:

To add a new category, click the Add button on the toolbar. The fields will activate for data entry:

The following fields are available on this screen:

Field	Description
Cycle Count Category	Enter the code for the new category
Description	Enter a brief description of the new category
Recurring Code	Enter the recurrence code or click the list icon to select from a list of active Recurring Codes in the system
Date of Next Cycle Count	Enter the date of the next cycle count for this category. You can type it in mm/dd/yyyy format or click the calendar icon to select the date

When you have entered the information, click Save to retain your changes.
