Overview of IRS08
In order to set up a transmitter ID in the IRS Reporting System, you must have an ID supplied to you by the IRS. In order to do so, you should complete and submit the IRS Form 4419. Please note that it takes up to 30 days for the form to be processed, so you should do this well in advance of the time when you will need to submit the files.
When you have received your transmitter ID from the IRS, you can set up your information in the IRS Reporting System.
- From the DDI Connect main menu, double-click IRS Reporting System
- Double-click Setup
- Double-click Transmitter Setup. You will see a screen like this one:
To add a new transmitter, click the New button on the toolbar. The fields will now activate for editing:
You have the following fields available:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Tax ID | Enter the tax ID for the transmitter that you are setting up |
Transmitter code | Enter the transmitter code provided to you by the IRS |
Name 1 | Enter your organization's name |
Name 2 | If a transfer agent, the Name 2 field should be the transfer agent's name |
Address | Enter your organization's address |
City | Enter your city |
State | Type your state abbreviation or click the list icon to select from a list of state codes in the system |
Zip | Enter your ZIP code |
Contact phone | Enter the phone number of the contact person in your organization |
Contact name | Enter the contact person's name |
Foreign? | If a foreign company, select this box |
When you have finished entering your information, click Save to retain the record.
