New mailmerge functionality was added to DDI-Connect to provide the ability to created nested mailmerge information in a more flexible manner. Nested mailmerge is another way of saying dynamic merge where an unknown number of records is associated with a single merge statements.

This is often times seen in situations where a statement contains transaction details. One statement may show 10 transactions, one statement may show 5 transactions.

The nested mailmerge concept will come into play as certain mailmerge statements like the investment statement (il267) and investment deposit receipt (il248) are modified to use the new functionality. Thus activity that was presented on multiple statements can be combined into a single statement.

The nested mailmerge functionality also includes features to store the mailmerge template and company logo in the database. These database storage features will make it easier to maintain mailmerge templates across the various database environments, as well as making it easier to change logos in one place and see the logo change cascade across all documents. This functionality allows you to change a logo one place and update all associated forms automatically.
