Carrier Service Setup
Overview of IV410
The Carrier Service Setup application is used to set up shipping carrier service classes (such as “Ground”) for use with the DDI-Connect shipping applications. The information includes a service code and a corresponding description. Carrier services can be added, edited, or deleted. Ship¬ping carriers must be set up using the Carrier Setup program prior to setting up carrier service classes.
- From the DDI Connect main menu, double-click Inventory
- Double-click Setup
- Double-click Carrier Service Setup. You will see this screen:
In order to add a service, you must first select a carrier. Click the drop down next to the Carrier field to select from a list of active Carriers set up in the system. Once you select a carrier, your screen will look something like this:
To add a new service, click the Add button on the toolbar. The fields will enable for data entry:
The following fields are available:
Field | Description |

Service code | Enter the carrier service code (such as “GND” for Ground) |
Description | Enter a description of the service |
Use as default? | If you wish to use this as the default service for this carrier, enter yes. Otherwise, leave at no |
Service days | Estimated number of days between shipment and delivery |
Estimated Rate Formula | To have the system automatically calculate an estimate of shipping costs, enter the formula used for this service. For example, USPS First class mail has a base rate of .37, plus .23 per ounce. So, the estimated rate formula would be 0.37 + 0.23*Z. The variables for this formula field are W (weight in lbs) and Z (weight in ounces) |
When you have finished entering the information, click Save to retain your changes.
