What is a Soft Credit gift?

A soft credit is where an organization gets credit for some or all of a gift, without having actually given the funds. For example, an organization does a fundraiser and donates the proceeds to your organization. Each individual donor gave so much money, but you want to credit the organization with the donations as well. You would enter each individual gift under the accounts of the donors who gave the money, and then add a soft credit for the organization.

Within DDI Connect, you can enter soft credits as partial dollar amounts or partial percentages, and you can add multiple soft credit donors in addition to a single gift.
