Viewing and Printing Checks

Overview of CW04
The DDI Connect Checkwriter module allows you to view and print all or selected checks from the system. To view/print checks, do the following:
- From the DDI Connect main menu, double-click CheckWriter
- Double-click View/Print Checks. You will see this screen:
In the Checking Account field, click the drop down arrow to select from a list of available checking accounts. The screen will now populate with a list of checks in that checking account:
Viewing Checks
The system defaults to display all checks, regardless of status. If you only wish to view unprinted checks, select that radio button. The screen will refresh to show you just the checks that have not been printed.
If you wish to view a particular check, you can double-click the line. This will display the check as it will look when it is printed:
On this screen, you can add a memo, change the payee, and view the top and bottom check stubs.
Change Check Payee
If a check has not been printed, you can change the payee if needed. From the Check view, click Change Payee. This screen will launch:
Enter the new payee information, and click Save. The payee information for this specific check will update.
Status Tab
To add a memo to the check, click the Pencil icon to the right of the Memo field:
This will allow you to add a memo to the check. When you have finished typing, click the save icon to the right of the memo field.
On this tab, you can also drill down into the GL accounts affected by this check. To do so, click once on either the Checking or Credit GL:
This will launch the General Ledger screen
When you have finished viewing the information, click Exit to return to the check viewing screen.
Top stub
When you click the Top stub tab, you will see the following screen:
On this screen, you can edit the voucher lines by clicking the Edit Lines button. This will launch the Check Stub Editor screen:
Make your modifications, and click Save when you are finished.
You can also view the source of the check by clicking the View Source button. This will launch you to whichever screen is the transaction that caused the check to be generated. Clicking Exit will return you to the check.
Bottom Stub
Clicking the Bottom stub tab will show you the following screen:
Finding Checks
To find a specific check, click the Find button on the toolbar. The Find Checks popup will appear:
Enter at least one search criteria, and click Find Next. The system will take you to the first check that matches your search:
Keep clicking Find Next until you locate the check you are looking for.
Reprinting Printed Checks
To Reprint a printed check or checks, click the Reprint button on the toolbar. The Reprint process will launch:
Enter the check number or range of numbers you wish to reprint, and click Continue:
Select your printer, and click Continue:
Click Start. The system will generate the check(s) and display this message:
Click Reprint if you need to reprint additional checks, or Finish if you are done reprinting.
Moving Checks between Accounts
If you have unprinted checks that were generated to the wrong account, you can easily move them to the correct checking account. This function ONLY works for unprinted checks, so you will not see the Move button unless you select Unprinted in the Checks Displayed option:
Select the incorrect checking account and locate the check(s) that was generated in error. Click once to highlight (you can select multiple checks by holding down the CTRL key and clicking each check to select), then click Move on the toolbar:
The system will display this popup:
Select the correct checking account and then click Select. You will be prompted with this message:
Click Yes. The check will now be moved to the correct account:
Deleting a Check
You can only delete unprinted checks, so the option to Delete will not even appear unless you have selected Unprinted in the Checks Displayed option:
To delete an unprinted check, click the check to highlight and then click Delete on the toolbar. You will see this message:
If you wish to delete, click Yes. You will now see this prompt:
You will see a slightly different prompt, depending on the transaction that caused the check to be generated. For example, you cannot delete loan, investment or portfolio checks - you must void them in order to reprocess. If you attempt to delete a check from one of those transactions, you will see this message:
If you are able to delete the check and click Yes to the message above, the check will be removed and the voucher (or other transaction) will be voided/canceled. If you click No, the voucher will remain open and will require that you reprocess in order to generate another check.
Voiding Checks
To void a check, locate it in CheckWriter and click it once to highlight. Then, click the Void button on the toolbar. You will be prompted with a message like this one:
Click Yes to proceed. You will now be prompted by a message such as this one:
If you wish to cancel the open voucher (or whatever transaction generated the check), click Yes. Otherwise, click No.
Printing Checks
To print the checks, click the Print button. This launches the Check Printing Wizard:
Verify the number of checks to print, the starting check number, and the check date. Once you have verified this information, click Continue to proceed to the next screen:
This screen displays the list of available printers on your system. You can also opt to generate the checks to PDF file, to be saved and then printed on any printer you choose.
Once you have selected your printer, click Continue:
Review the information on this screen and verify that it is correct. If it is, click Start. The system will spool through and print the checks:
The checks will either generate to the printer or to a pdf, depending on your selection. The system will then display this message:
If all of your checks printed successfully, select that option. If only some or none of the checks printed successfully, select that option and then click Continue. The system will prompt you with this message:
Indicate the appropriate reason for voiding the checks. If nothing printed and the checks can be re-used, select that option. Click continue:
Choose the option that you wish to use, either creating a new set of checks or not reprinting the checks. Once you have made your selection, click Continue:
If you need to void more checks, click Back. Otherwise, click Continue to proceed:
Select Finish. This brings you back to the View/Print Checks screen. Review the checks to verify that they are all present, and click Print to start the check printing process again.
