Overview of Code Set 0012

NOTE: There are certain relationship codes that should NOT be modified, due to programming within DDI-Connect that utilizes these codes. They are:

  • MEMB (Church Member)
  • SPOU (Spouse)
  • DR (Domestic Relation - functions the same way as Spouse)

For these three codes, do not modify the actual code. If desired, you can modify the description, but the codes must remain as is.

  • From the main menu of DDI-Connect, double-click Name/Address
  • Double-click Setup
  • Double-click Codes Maintenance. You will see this screen:

For relationship codes, the code set you will want to modify is #0012 - Relationship codes. Double-click that code set. You will see this screen:

You have the following fields available to you on this screen:

Field Description
Code Enter a unique code identifier for this record
Active If the box is checked, this code is active and available for selection
Description Enter a brief, unique description for this code
Security This function utilizes the DDI-Connect Security codes. For a thorough understanding of how security works within DDI-Connect, we recommend you reference the Security document located here: Security Function Maintenance

To set security on a specific code, you would enter the requirements in this format: !NA/7 or #NA. These are just examples...you can use whatever security function you like in order to restrict access to a code.

Numeric Value 1 This field is utilized in conjunction with third party external software and should only be modified by DDI staff
Numeric Value 2 This field is utilized in conjunction with third party external software and should only be modified by DDI staff
Recip. code (M) Within DDI-Connect, there are certain relationships that generate a reciprocal relationship code on the record being linked. For example, if you are linking to a constituent and indicating that the record being linked is the father of the current record, you would have a reciprocal code of SON or DAU on the initial record. Or, you could be indicating that the relationship is that of a brother. The reciprocal code for the linking constituent would then either be BRO for brother or SIS for sister. In this field, enter the Male reciprocal code. Not all codes require reciprocal relationship codes, so these fields can be left blank if they do not apply.
Recip. code (F) As explained above. In this field, however, enter the Female reciprocal code

Once you have entered all of the information, click OK. The new code is now added to the list of available codes.
