Cannot Merge Accounts Associated with Investment or Loan

We are attempting to clean up duplicate names. However, when we try to merge an account that is attached to an investment or a loan, we get an error and the system will not perform the merge. How can we do this?

The system will not allow you to merge accounts away from an investment or loan account. So, if both names are associated with investments and or loans, you will not be able to perform the merge. The steps you would need to take are:

• If the account is associated with an investment or multiple investments, you will have to Re-register each investment to the account you wish to merge TO

• If the account is associated with one or more loans, you will have to perform a loan refinance to move the loan(s) to the account you wish to merge TO

Once the investment(s) and/or loan(s) have been associated to the new account, you will be able to merge the accounts.
