Cannot Make an Address Primary

We are trying to edit a constituent's record to make an address primary. We select the box and save, but the address will not update as being the primary. Why?

Chances are, there are dates in the Address Options area of the address:

The system will not allow an address to be marked as primary if it is a temporary address, meaning that the address is only active within the dates specified. To correct this:

• Click the Edit button on the toolbar
• Click the tab for the address you need to edit
• Remove the dates from the Dates field
• Select Primary address
• Save the record
