Overview of IRS09

If you are participating in the combined filing, you must configure the states within the IRS system. Please note that not all states participate in the Federal/State e-File program. A list of participating states can be found here. For the states that are not participating, enter a code of 00. The states that do participate each have a filing code. The IRS State codes should have been configured for your system by DDI, but if not, the process for setting up states is:


  • From the DDI Connect main menu, double-click IRS Reporting System
  • Double-click Setup
  • Double-click State Setup. You will see a screen similar to this one:

To add a new state, click the New button on the toolbar. The fields will now activate for editing:

You have the following fields available:


Field Description
State Type the state abbreviation or click the list icon to select from a list of state codes
State name Type the full state name
Filing code Enter the state's IRS filing code. This code is found in publication 1220 from the IRS, typically in Table 1 (Participating States and their codes)


When you have finished entering the information, click Save to retain the new state.
