We are reviewing some investment transactions, and are seeing amounts that were withheld. Why would an investment have any funds withheld?

The DDI-Connect system will withhold amounts from interest payments or other investment payment transactions if the investor's constituent account does not have a tax ID or social security number set up, and if your system has been configured to do so. If you look at the Investment System Settings screen under Financial Services --> Investments --> Setup --> Investment System Settings, click the Penalty/Withhold tab. There is a checkbox on this screen:

If this box is selected, the system will automatically withhold a penalty amount when the investor's tax ID/social security number field is blank.
